When going abroad on holiday all holiday makers should have a travel insurance policy. Read the following cost cutting tips for single trip holiday insurance and bag yourself a cheaper deal.

Holiday makers who are going on a standard summer holiday in the sun have the choice of two different policies that they can get to cover them while their away. Choose from single trip and annual trip travel insurance policies. Single trip is the best option if you are just making one trip in that year, but if you intend to go away a few times that year an annual multi trip policy will be more financially beneficial to you.

So what does a typical single trip travel insurance policy offer its policyholders? Well, the most important feature is medical cover and treatment if you become ill or involved in an accident and need medical treatment. Cancellations costs from airlines and protection against lost or stolen money including credit cards, plus protection for lost luggage are the main policy features.

It’s worth mentioning that an E11 travel certificate does not have the same protection as a standard holiday insurance policy. An E11 only cover policyholders for emergency treatment medically if they have been in an accident, it does not cover common treatments and illnesses. The above mentioned features are what are included on a standard policy.

Policyholders when buying a policy should always look at the terms and conditions to see exactly what is covered because some policies do not cover costs that incur from the use of an ambulance if one is needed. Make sure the your also cover for the journey back to the UK if you have missed your flight back, some policies do not include this. Plus, make sure the policy excess is not too high, cheaper policies may have a higher excess contribution.
