Travel To Chicago

September 9, 2010

Planning to travel to Chicago? No matter what time of year you visit, you are bound to find plenty of things to see and do that will keep you entertained. One of the top tourist destinations is Navy Pier located on Lake Michigan, just East of Chicago’s down town. The military once used this as a training site during two world wars. Now it is filled with several shops and dinning options and features a Farris Wheel. The Pier has been a landmark from the first day it opened in 1916.

If you are bringing children, be sure to check out the Brookfield zoo, which is open year round. This zoo is home to over 2,000 animals and was the first to house a Giant Panda Bear in the United States. They offer guided tours that run spring through fall. Be sure to check out the dolphin show, butterfly garden and the petting zoo while there.

What would be a trip to Chicago with out trying a famous Chicago dog, or a deep dish pizza. There are several street cart vendors where you can get a hot dog, or you can try one of the local favorite places like Superdawg’s.
They are located at 6363 N Milwaukee Ave. Most people choose to eat in their cars. For deep dish pizza, try Pizzeria Due, located on Wabash Ave. Expect a crowed and plan accordingly.

Another thing you might want to do while in town, would be to take a Segway Tour, or a trolley ride though downtown. You can spend all day shopping at Magnificent mile, or take a stroll through Hyde Park. Whatever your reason is for visiting the “windy city,” Chicago is everyone’s kind of town. The city offers so much to do that visitors keep coming back for more.

With all these things to do in Chicago, don’t forget to choose the right Chicago hotel in the city to enhance your overall experience. Have a great place to lay your head at night can make all the difference.
